A Walk In The Woods

Welcome to my genealogy page. Here you'll find all research I've done on my family trees thus far. I say "trees" because finding your ancestors, and their families and descendants, quickly branches out into proportions of hundreds, then THOUSANDS!

This Family Tree contains:
  1952 Individuals
  444 Surnames
Produced on 18 JUL 2012

The links below will take you to my "main lines" (direct ancestors), and also a surname list and people list of every individual in my database. There is also a page of name histories and coats of arms, a "virtual cemetery" page with links to photos that I've taken of ancestors graves, an online soundex converter that I wrote, and a link to my family tree at Ancestry.com.

Please don't hesitate to contact me if you find or suspect a link between your research and mine!

"We live in an age that has little respect for the past and shows no inclination to profit by the experience of those who have lived sucessfully and died in peace." ~Gilbert H. Doane

"What we learn about our ancestors, we learn about ourselves. We also learn about history in a most immediate way, as we could not otherwise learn it.... History and genealogy are inseperable." ~Eugene A. Stratton

"There is no king who has not had a slave among his ancestors, and no slave who has not had a king among his." ~Helen Keller

"Genealogy is indeed the handmaid of history when it leads us into a greater appreciation of what the generations of the earth have accomplished before us. Add to that the thrill of the chase, the satisfaction of solving puzzles, the delight in making new discoveries, and, not least significant, the association with many fine people--for genealogy seems to attract people who are far more than just ordinarily interesting--and, yes, it is worth the candle. With but a little effort, one will get out of genealogy much more than one puts into it." ~Eugene A. Stratton

"...the history of this country is really the history of countless average families, and...we are, all of us, part of it" ~Jeane Eddy Westin
