Thinking Positively

There are a lot of negative (and many even frightening) things going on in the world and society right now…. I myself know that I let lots of things “get” to me a lot of the time – from traffic to annoying or rude people, sitting around and criticizing this and that etc.

Even though I admittedly do this a lot (and am sure to continue to, ha ha), I started wondering if thinking more positively about things – consciously trying to find something “good”, even in the “bad” – could help my mood sometimes.

For instance, the traffic or the way people drive might drive me crazy at times – but at least I’m lucky enough to have a car (that runs) (barely). Hmm, or maybe someone’s being rude out in public or something – but the good thing is, hey, I don’t HAVE to respond to their rudeness.

There’s also the more “permanent” or important things that can be good in your life…. Like, I’m blessed to have a good job, doing something that I love to do (especially in this economy!). I’m also blessed with a loving family.

I’m just saying – perhaps sometime when you’re feeling especially annoyed / upset / depressed or negatively about something – maybe take a moment to force yourself to think “well it’s bad – but at least ….” [something good and positive]!

Cheesy, I know, but maybe it’ll work sometimes ;-)
